Since we didn’t have a presenter for CoolEdit we talked about it. Fortunately Michael attended and was able to give us a live demo of the program. In further discussion we noticed that it was more difficult than expected to find a recently updated version, in part because it was not in most repositories and in part because a web search returned many results which were not right.
We talked about various other things, including systemd. Several people were familiar with sysinit, and the question came up, why are distros changing to systemd? Faster startup time and better management tools. We decided it would be good to have a presentation about how to manage services in systemd.
