Richard started talking about Master of Orion II: Battle at Antares which he plays in Linux and was very easy to install using a patch to load DOSBox to run the game. We also talked about wine and bottles which weren’t the best at emulating DOS. Carl then talked about FreeDOS, which is his favorite DOS emulator, in part because it includes TCP/IP networking. Also he suggested using qemu and/or libvirt (aka kvm) to create a fast, light-weight emulator for FreeDOS. Since there was interest in this topic, Carl will do a demo at the next meeting.
We also talked about the various DOS games and where to find them online. We were pleasantly surprised by the assortment available at archive.org.
