I have an old Plextor ConvertX that functioned when I tried it years ago
but it was a pain. The driver had to be compiled and manually loaded. It
acts as a basic serial port until its firmware is loaded. Then it restarts
and acts as a video device. I'm not sure if it is still available or if
the Linux support is any better integrated.
