manager that comes with this system. It apparently checks MBR for a change
and 'restores' the old MBR (after Ubuntu). One of the solutions suggested
was the small (12 GB) recovery partition that HP creates (after making some
back up recovery DVDs) . I did that, installed ubuntu again but still no
cigar :-) BTW, I am using legacy (non EFI) boot using MBR.
