[mdlug] Consequences of 'noacpi'?

I installed Xubuntu last night, and after installation and updating, I can boot from the hard drive without the 'noacpi' option, so that's good.

There were a couple minor issues, though. While running the live CD, I shrank an NTFS partition, which took a while. Then I decided to reboot, and chose the default install option. The install used the newly-unallocated space, but (a) didn't give me the option to control the partitioning myself, and (b) the install progress dialog disappeared partway through the install. Just a black screen with an animated 'waiting' cursor, though I could move the cursor around. Ctrl-Alt-F1 to get a virtual terminal showed it was still working, though, and it did finish.

I'll probably reinstall again tonight; wipe out the single partition and redo things with my own scheme. But I'm glad to see that I won't need the 'noacpi' bit.

 Sincerely,

 Ray Ingles (313) 227-2317
