Greetings:

So I'm currently playing with VM's on my work laptop (shh don't tell
anyone). We use a proxy server at the office, and neitehr Ubuntu nor
Debian could get on until I put those settings in. On Ubuntu I'm
having no difficulty in the GUI interface, but I can't use apt-get or
other package managers and get a connection error .

 407 Proxy Authentication Required [IP: 10.128.32.192 8107]

On Debian, its interesting. As I used a netinstall iso to set up my
VM I had to enter the proxy info during install and install worked.
Then for some reason I didn't install a DE originally so again I had
to configure it so that apt-get would work to install KDE.

If I remember correctly I used the export http_proxy command.

Now that I'm in KDE I can't access any websites on Konqueror. I can
use the apt-get command and install new packages, so I'm having some
access.

What's also interesting on that is that the popup in Konqueror that
has the proxy requesting my username/Password only shows the first
part of our proxy URL it just show "proxy at sec-" and not the full
URL.

Any insight would be appreciated.
