I personally haven't run it, but there is WiKit, which can run in a
number of ways, with a standalone Tk console. I know someone who used
it as a portable knowledgebase on their laptop.

As I tend to like MediaWiki, I've got it running on my laptop locally,
but I've got resources to burn on that thing. I do recall that someone
did something to make MediaWiki run as a "mini" version using SQLite
(links below), but I've never investigated it. I think it also requires
a webserver to run still, but lighttpd with PHP doesn't consume that
much overhead.
