I've never had a problem with Linux and AMD.
In fact, my desktop machine has gone through 5 motherboards,
and not a single one has ever been an Intel CPU.
First motherboard was a Cyrix 386.

The only reason my laptop is an Intel CPU is because
when I came home on 4-day pass before deploying to Iraq,
they had run out of the Turion64 model.
