[mdlug] knoppix does not see the hard disk on a laptop

I wouldn't put it past MS to come up with a wacky new partitioning
scheme, but you should still see the raw device in 'fdisk -l'

It's certainly time to switch something around, check connections, the
drive may be dead.  Does the drive operate in Windows? You say you can't
log in, but the system boots? Even if bit-locker is in use Linux should
still see the raw device, if not the partitions.

Based on Jim's comments, try a different live run distro, like Mepis or
*buntu, etc.
