Actually you can. MDLUG provides a convenient "elsewhere" called the
mdlug-discuss list. This is where OT discussions properly belong. If you
have any concerns about ruffling feathers with your "take it elsewhere"
request feel free to drop a line to the list moderator
mailto:listmod at mdlug.org. Garry is on line most of the time, and steps
in on occasion, as needed.
I was tempted to speak up about that thread myself, but it kept veering
back into the telecom aspect which is arguably a legitimate topic for
discussion.

I don't know of any such client, and I don't know that I would trust the
heuristics. Personally I already look at my spam's sender/subject info
as I delete it from thunderbird's junk folder.
Thunderbird can display message threads to show which messages decend
from which branch. It might make most sense to just keep one "do not
read" message flagged in your inbox and manually delete all follow ups
to it.
