[mdlug] Are there any clients that support sub-thread blocking?

The IR jamming topic was fascinating - the discussion of how it might
be implemented and what effects it has on consumer gadgets was very
interesting.  It has since turned into a political discussion.  Since
the subject quite clearly says the topic is OT, I can't simply ask you
guys to take the discussion elsewhere.

This got me thinking, and that got me searching. Are there any clients
and/or plugins that allow ignoring sub-threads?  Not the whole thread,
just a certain root message and all threads below that root message.
My searching got no where, and I'm not in inclined to write a new
client and/or plugin that supports this idea.

Does anyone know of or use a client and/or plugin that supports this
idea?  I imagine it would see some decent use in mailing lists
everywhere.
