I use gmail (so do you), and heavily utilize the 'mute' command ->
shortcut == 'm'. Hit 'm' on your keyboard while reading this thread.
You will notice that gmail mutes the conversation and you will not see
any more emails on this topic :-)

There may be a non-webmail way to do this, but I don't know of one...
