Of course.
In contrast, what money do MDLUG members stand to make or lose by
someone else's choice of OS?

Not necessarily.
With the first two re-written lines, you're not fully
tapping into the latent frustrations of the typical
Windows-using business-owner.
And most people operate more by "away from pain" strategies
more than "towards gain" strategies.
One of the keys is to gain rapport with those feelings
of frustration which are common among the Windows
community, and then amplify them to a level which compels
seeking out something which provides them with relief
from the frustration and mental anguish (caused by virus
headaches, financial outflows, etc.)
Another thing to do is run MULTIPLE flyers...
