Repeated kernel panics tend to be a sign of hardware issues. Some things
to try:

 0. If there are BIOS updates, apply them.

 1. Unplug and reseat *everything*. If contacts on RAM or cables look at
all corroded, a pencil eraser can clean them pretty well.

 2. Check temperatures, make sure fans are spinning and there's decent
    airflow.

 3. Disable features, and see if things stabilize. If so, start re-enabling
    features until things break again.
    a. Some things to try disabling: ACPI, APIC, fast IDE/SATA modes, etc.
       For ideas, look here: http://tldp.org/HOWTO/BootPrompt-HOWTO.html
      ...especially sections 3 and 4.
    b. Also, try disabling high-speed modes for the video card.

Once things are stabilized, try compiling the Linux kernel over and over.
If you can get 24 hours of that without a panic or a signal 11, you can be
nearly certain the problem is resolved.

 Sincerely,

 Ray Ingles (313) 227-2317

"There is no distinction in nature between microevolution and macroevolution.
Macroevolution is just larger quantities of microevolution over much longer
times. It's like saying that there's 'microwalking' which is what I do from
the car park to the office every morning, and down to the shops on weekends,
and that can result in changes of my location over time on a small scale; but
the idea that people, over tens of thousands of years, walked out of central
Africa into Europe, then over to Asia, across to North America and into South
America - that's 'macrowalking' and it's impossible. God must have put them
                        there." - Anthony Steele

I had this problem with a system and it turned out to be memory chips not seated. I reseated and never had a problem after.

I am having a prblom with my web server booting. At times when it trys to boot i get a "kernel panic - not syncing: fatal exception in interrupt". When it does boot it has a rather bad habit of locking up. I am running Mandravia 2007.1. Any ideas?
