 They've had no problems putting other industries out of business. See, e.g.,
the disk compression industry, the browser industry, the office software
industry, etc. They don't mind taking over a revenue stream, or cutting it
off completely for everyone including themselves if it hurts their
competition.

 Hanlon's Razor says "Never attribute to malice what can be adequately
explained by stupidity." I agree that malice is nearly the default assumption
with MS, but in this case, monumentally stupid historical design decisions
cover almost all of it. Malware's out of control, and MS knows it. If they
could fix it, they would. But they *can't*. See my .sig:
