Which proves a point I made a long time ago. IT is not consumer driven,
and that is it's maim problem. The endless upgrade cycle MUST create a
demand. There isn't one. Most people have an "if it works, don't fix
it" mentality. MS is desperate pushing Vista like the Devil was on
their back. I don't recall any version of Windows being pushed like
this. The day it went on sale XP machines were yanked off the market.
The consumer wants security, MS gives us DRM for "their" security
meaning the MIAA and the RIAA.
The consumer wants stability. MS gives us DRM that makes the computer
unstable.
The consumer just wants it to work. MS keep changing things that don't
need changing on mature programs. All of which breaks them in new ways.
So, who's their daddy? It ain't us that's for sure. I predict that
within a few month an XP license will be a valued commodity that you
will be able to ask your own price on.
