The Discussion:
We talked about the various Linux distros that we use and the advantages of each one. Of particular interest were the spinoffs from Arch Linux for the desktop and Nix for servers.
We then proceeded to the topic of programming. This included languages we’ve used, those we liked or disliked, which language is the best fit for each of various situations, and the evolution of languages and shells. We considered various methods of planning and testing software, including poorly designed programs and the role of the community in testing and evaluation.
Gib suggested two topics for next time: privacy in the future of crypto-currency and choosing a new name for Metro Detroit Linux Users Group. Hopefully we’ll be able to come up with a more inclusive name that uses the same initials!
