[mdlug] mysql status issue

Have you tried running mysql_upgrade?  I have read
in the past that it should always be run after any
upgrade of mysql.  The program basically updates
the data structure of existing tables to be optimized
for the new version.

I'm wondering if mysql_upgrade was interrupted,
and thus left some indicator that it was working.
