I recently moved. After doing so my desktop won't connect to the
internet. All of the wi-fi devices in my home work fine. I plugged my
laptop directly into the UVerse Modem/Router and it connected fine.
According to ifconfig if have a valid ip address, and I can ping the router.
My IP address is the same one I alwasy had at the old house.
192.168.1.105. The other devices in my home that I can easily access
the IP address of are on the same subnet, but seem to be the other end
(192.168.1.253, etc.)
I'm trying to remember if I ever set a static IP at the old house (I
might have) and maybe that's why I can't actually get out now, its not
actually renewing the DHCP? I'm not really sure where else to look.
Usually simply resetting stuff fixes network issues. I turn the eht0
off and back on, immeditatley same IP address.
What is next step?
FYI, I'm running Trisquel GNU/Linux 7. (Ubuntu based distro) My kid
has ruined every CD drive I have because she likes playing with the
"cup holder"
