Hi Peter,

I would absolutely recommend using LVM and full disk
encryption.  If your computer were ever lost or stolen
all of your data would be safe (assuming you have it
backed up somewhere).

I use and recommend Centos for people with any tech-
nical savvy who want a secure and stable distro that just
works.  During the installation you can select LVM and
encryption, so it's a no-brainer.

If you do this, you'd want to add two repositories, EPEL
and nux-dextop.  They provide the typical packages
that are missing from Centos, which is actually intended
for business use.
