Oh, a closer look at this I see I need a 9 pin with a rj45. So, if I take this and use a Ethernet cable for the rj45 connection would it work:

What I use is "PuTTY for Linux", which is really handy because you can
setup a profile and assign it device /dev/ttyS0 along with the speed, etc...
My laptop does not have a serial port, so I use a USB to 9pin Serial
adapter, and when I plug it in, I check dmesg which tells me it is
ttyUSB0 and I setup my profile accordingly. Also, PuTTY for Linux, has
the same look and feel as the version for Windows that we all know and
love. :-)
