SORRY I have not gotten back to you yet… life at my house is (and has been) more than crazy the last few weeks.

Exploring the Solar System
I just gave a lecture “Exploring the Solar System” to the Warren Astronomical Society and in my wife’s classroom (had to split it in 2). I was told it’s the best lecture I ever gave! I’d like to do that one. Here is the text about the event:

Bob takes us on tour of the Solar System – with lots of visuals! He will discuss the Sun, asteroids and comets, planets and their moons, and some of the past and current space missions exploring the bodies of our Solar System.

Bob has been an amateur astronomer his entire life; he is a Board member of the Warren Astronomical Society (WAS), and a volunteer NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador. He was the Science-area lead for the 2014 North American Science Fiction Convention, DetCon1 in Detroit. Bob is fantastically interested in asteroids, and loves observing the Sun.

KidFusion
I’d like to do SOMETHING astronomy with the kids track – even if it’s a single “Ask the Astronomer” or “Ask a Scientist” session. I have ANY NUMBER of videos I could show them. I have my Sun lecture, and one about the Moon… hell, even my “Exploring the Solar System” lecture would make their eyes pop out.

I could bring in my small telescope, and they could look out the window at something far away – even if it’s to simply get eyes on a ‘scope…. Did I mention that my Twitter tagline is #TeachKidsSpace ?

Kerbal Space Program
I gave a lecture about Kerbal Space Program at Conclave – I’d REALLY like to do it to a larger audience. I believe Kerbal Space Program to be an incredibly important piece of software. I now UNDERSTAND orbital mechanics and spacecraft design - at least on a very basic level. Running KSP, I have had several "light bulb" moments - teachers LOVE those.

KerbalEDU - the educational version of the sim has an Earth History Campaign that leads you through the history of the US space program - something I want to see taught in schools.

The KSP Asteroid Redirect mission was developed by a partnership between NASA and the developers of KSP. The AsteroidDay Mod has missions to launch infrared asteroid-hunting space telescopes - something I'm very VERY interested in.

I also had a hand in getting a 5 PC Kerbal-LAB setup at Conclave - with the awesome help of MDlug members (Metro Detroit Linux Users Group). I would simply LOVE to see this happen again at ConFusion… with a larger audience…

I wrote about KSP here: http://www.vofoundation.org/blog/kerbal-space-program/
And the KSP Earth History Campaign here: http://www.warrenastro.org/was/newsletter/WASP-2015-November.pdf#page=22

AsteroidDay
I gave a lecture about AsteroidDay – the yearly event, and my involvement with it – at Conclave. Surprisingly, my audience for this was PACKED! As an amateur astronomer, THIS is one of the things I’m most passionate about.

Telescopes
Solar Observing on Saturday and Sunday: Noon-1:00 PM
The moon will be perfect this weekend! Lunar Observing Friday and Saturday: 10:00PM-11:00PM (I may setup a little earlier if the viewing is good).

Other Stuff
I’ve got more stuff I could present too… I don’t know if Bill Higgins will be there, but I’d LOVE to do something with him again. I’d also like to be on a science panel.
