Of course, the *best* option is to stick enough RAM in your machine that you don't ever have to swap. I'm on a four-year hardware refresh cycle at home; back in 2009 I lowballed on RAM, only got 2GB, and felt the pinch later on, and *had* to bump up to 4GB. When I got my new computer last year, I didn't screw around: 16GB of RAM. Haven't swapped yet, and it makes a big difference.
