What in God's name does that have to do with an editor taking up 20x as much memory
and 50x as many CPU cycles to accomplish the same task as what editors have always done?
Don't make excuses for this sort of crap -- that only makes YOU part of the problem, too.
And by the way, the networking subsystem is extremely efficient -- on par with
doing character I/O on a RS-232 serial port.
The changes over the last 3 decades are literally trivial. (not figuratively, LITERALLY).
