           Don’t know why your app can only run on XP (vendor out of business?).   If internet security is not an issue, just run it until it dies, it also might be good idea to find another good-conditioned XP machine as back up so when this one dies, you have another machine, because latest hardware probably won’t run XP.
           If the computer must be hooked to the internet and you app does run on virtual machine (either on VMWare Workstation or Linux hypervisor), it might be OKto rely on host’s firewall.
           At last, give this vendor a boot if possible and avoid them in the future. Good luck!
