I'd also like to make the community aware (my employer has a similar issue
where some of our device communication was written by companies that do not
exist any more) that XP mode in windows 7 is not 100% compatible with
windows XP.
Generally speaking it works for most legacy applications, but when a
program requires serial port Ethernet communication the XP mode will still
break.
I run into this a lot with our legacy flowmeter diagnostic programs.
I'm unsure of wine's use. Our management has all but banned linux within my
company (I get by using it for backups because they don't know). So I won't
have the ability to test it.
