*University of Michigan Library Seeks **Two Application Developers*

*Job Summary*

The Publishing Technology Group (PTG) and Digital Library Production Service
(DLPS), units of the University of Michigan Library, seek *two* Application
Developers to help design and implement a robust publishing platform for use
with the HathiTrust digital library and repository. These positions will
join our inter-divisional team to create a modular, extensible,
enterprise-level suite of applications on the cutting edge of digital
publishing.

HathiTrust is a partnership of major research institutions and libraries
working to ensure that the cultural record is preserved and accessible long
into the future. There are more than fifty partners in HathiTrust, and
membership is open to institutions worldwide.

Salary range of $50,000 - $70,000, subject to experience and qualifications.
This is a full-time exempt term position for two (2) years with the
possibility for renewal. Excellent benefits, including 24 vacation days per
year.

45% Software development.

45% Collaboration with peers on system requirements analysis, planning, and
design.
10% Write code documentation.

*Required Qualifications**

Bachelor's degree plus two years relevant experience or Master's degree.

Demonstrated proficiency in:

-a modern high-level programming language

-OOP

-version control software


Thorough knowledge of:

-web accessibility and Section 508 compliance

-web technical standards and best practices


Ability and willingness to learn Perl.
Experience working in a software development environment.
Commitment to writing clean, documented code.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Intellectual curiosity and desire to discuss why we develop what we develop.


*Desired Qualifications**

Experience in:

-mobile interfaces

-Unix-like OS

-AJAX

-XSLT

-APIs, such as RESTful web services

-web usability
