My company (Global Crossing) is looking for a couple of programmers with
a reasonable amount of Perl experience.

The pay is quite decent. You should be familiar with things like how
to select data out of a database. Some experience with routers and
switches, SNMP and the like would be super. Bonus points for knowing
Tcl, Java, and Python (you don't have to particularly like any of them).

Presumably you are already moderately familiar with Linux/Unix, that's 
very helpful. A modicum of web programming experience and jQuery would 
be nice too.

Anyone with this experience who is interested please send me a resume
off list.

What does this have to do with Linux? Well Perl is pretty commonly used 
as an admin language for Linux, and as the local Perl group looks pretty 
  dead so I figured this would be a good next choice. From the archives 
I see that other people have posted jobs on here, so I trust this is 
acceptably on-topic.

Obviously I'm more of a programmer than a recruiter, which is why this 
posting doesn't brag about our fortune 500 status and our global network 
  and all that jazz. However you can rest assured this is a real job at 
a real non-startup company.

Global Crossing's Detroit area office is located in Southfield. You 
would also have the option of working from scenic Phoenix, AZ or
