I haven't had good luck with this method in the past.  Maybe the poor quality of 
the player (i.e. a boom box) is what's causing the poor signal.  The sound as 
heard over my computer's speakers via the audio/microphone input is very 
substantially degraded from the sound heard on the boom box's speakers.

Anyone have any idea where to get an *inexpensive* cassette player with Dolby 
and a Type I/II switch on the web?  (I don't relish the idea of browsing thrift 
shops or yard sales looking for one)
