[mdlug] Laptop woes - Knoppix boots but Ubuntu doesn't?

 Done, no problems detected.

 Multiple CDs, both 9.04 and 9.10.

 It's a hardware thing. What I don't know (yet) is what kind of hardware
issue it is. I've noted that on OpenSUSE, it logs a few ATA 'device not
ready' errors before it finally boots. So far, this has not impacted
operation, but...
