The process should have something related to soffice.bin

Open up a terminal and type in the following:

ps -ef | grep soff

It should provide you a short list of any process with soff in the name,
which should be Open Office. Why soffice.bin you ask? It's a throwback to
when OpenOffice.org was Star Office.

The line should present you with the process name and the process ID.

To which you type in:

kill -9 <process number>

Which should kill the OpenOffice.org process.
