    The *new* drive is fine.  It was the surviving member of the old 
pair that hit the floor.  And due to the timing, I can't be positive 
that the rsync job between the old and new drives completed fully (I've 
been having some odd luck with rsync -- even before when the drives were 
all good, it kept reporting certain files as "missing" even though I was 
always able to access those files and work with them from other 
applications).
