We use Nagios and Munin, neither of which has this capability.

Groupware?  I'm familiar with php-groupware, but don't recall
anything in it that would keep track of this info.  Is there a
particular package you can suggest?

I've done a lot of searching for free-form databases and just
didn't find anything.  The one good thing, since reading the
last several messages I thought of another keyword to throw
at Google:  asset.  Hopefully a search for "php inventory
asset management" will find something.
