Do you want chips with that?

I can recommend

If you can't find a 5M 1/2 watt resistors
consider buying a pack of 5 1M 1/8 (or more) watt
(Radio Shack 271-1356) and soldering them
in series (to make 5M 5/8W resister).
Assuming the resister carries no high frequency,
you need only worry about making good "hot" solder joints.

To mitigate risk of arcing,
I suggest using the smallest pcb available
(http://www.radioshack.com/search/index.jsp?kw=pc%20board), or
   1. buy 5 1M 1/8 (or more) watt resistors
   2. cut both leads of 3 resistors to 4mm and bend to 2mm "hook"
   3. cut one lead on 2 resistors to 4mm and bend to 2mm "hook"
   4. daisy chain resisters, crimp leads and solder
   5. slip into soda straw, bit of tubing, or wrap in electrical tape
[Makes 1 5M 5/8 watt resistor ~50mm long.]

Charged up,
