That will have to come a long way.  I need a car that can get me to
Lexington on a tank of gas.  The current all electrics could barely get
my wife to work and back, and she better not take any side trips.

Batteries are the issue, pure and simple.

Hybrids are more expensive to run than gas cars.  What they don't tell
you in the ads is the Prius will need a $10,000 battery replacement in
two years.  Totally negating any gas savings you might have enjoyed.
