I have the latest kde4 digikam. I used it with my wife to help
her organize her photos, and was impressed with the find similar photos
feature, which worked very well. There are lots of other features like red
eye removal, match a sketch, etc. which are said to work well, but I
have only played with.
As per a prior post, I second the thought about using a scanning
service. Even with a document feeder, scanning can be a serious time
sink.

Subject: [mdlug] OT: Photo Software
G'day,
My siblings and I just went through the parents' photo albums and there
are many that each of us wants copies of. Consequently, I've got a big
stack to be sorted, digitized, and tagged (who/when/where/etc). Have
any of you done this? What software did you use? Did you scan them
yourselves on your home printer/copier/scanner, use an online service,
go to CVS, Meijer's, etc???
TIA,
David
