Like I said, I should have done that too, but I had no suspicion the
restore would fail on me. :-/

Nah, the data's stored in a different format, sadly.

The filesystem itself appears to be fine - I was able to copy the data
onto another drive. The restore still failed at the same point when
restoring from the other drive, though.
