[mdlug] Moving to Debian 64bit - Lessons Learned?

Before you upgrade to a 64bit distro, boot from a 64bit live CD, like
Ubuntu, and check your available memory (free).

I did this on my 4GB PC and I didn't have any more usable memory than
the 32bit Ubuntu (3GB). My research leads me to believe the problem
is due to limitations in my BIOS.

Since there wasn't any memory advantage, I went with a 32bit distro to
save some headaches.
