Hey Andrew,

I'm interested in talking with you about your project. I've attended a couple of MDLUG Meetings. I'm an adjunct professor in U of D Mercy's CIS Program. This semester, I'm teaching as software testing class in the masters program (CIS 530). I was wondering if you'd be open to my class (9 graduate students) conducting a SQA test on your application. This would give them "hands on" experience with "real life" work and this is the way that I learned SQA, years ago. More importantly, it will expose them to Linux. My class meets on Tuesday nights at the McNichols / Six Mile campus from 6:40 until 9:00pm. If you are opened to this, please e-mail me at raineyster at gmail.com.

Sincerely,

Subject: [mdlug] Detroit application/company

Hey gang, I just wanted to post to the list as a follow up to what I talked
about at Saturday's meeting.

I am developing a piece of "collaborationware" based on open source, and I
am making a company out of it. It is a web-based project management/work
flow application. I have a beta version of the application finished, and I
would like people to poke around with it, put it through its paces, and
email me feedback. I want to know:

1. What features or aspects of this did you like/were
valuable?

2. What features "worked OK, but it would better if it
worked like x?" Mention even small, minor things.

3. Did you ever get the application to break or display
an error message? What page were you on and what were you trying to do when
that happened?

4. What features don't seem to have much valuable?

5. What features would make the application more
valuable?

6. Is this application valuable enough that you/your
company would/will pay to use it?

The temporary, "secret," dev URL is www.gobiggohome.net

I can use the help of a JavaScript framework/AJAX developer and experienced
PHP developer. I will make this public at some point soon, the number of
users and hits will grow, and I anticipate needing SA and DBA help in the
future. This has no revenue now, but anticipate having revenue in the
!distant future. If you like the idea of a Detroit Internet company based
on open source and can help, we can talk over dinner at Slows BBQ or Panera
about some kind of deal. Add'l info:
http://www.gobiggohome.net/employment.php

I am trying to make a "win-win-win" deal for the business, metro Detroit's
economy, and the open source community.

Thanks in advance,

- Andrew Koper
