What is your motivation for wanting to setup your own mail server?  Is
it because you want to learn how set up your own mail server or
because you want to avoid using register.com (or something else)?  If
you want to learn, then postfix or exim4 are two good choices of many.
  If you simply want to avoid register.com's email service, then there
are other service providers, such as Google Apps, whose Standard
Package is free.
