Personally, I don't know how Oracle can be allowed to buy
Sun AND KEEP MySQL without creating a legal paradox.
It's in Oracle's financial best interest for MySQL to be
as worthless as possible as compared to Oracle's other
offerings. As a company listed on the stock exchanges, Oracle's
officers are LEGALLY required to try to make as much money as
possible, which means MySQL to be as worthless as possible.
For a publicly held company, loss-leaders are not allowed
unless part of some grand strategy in which the loss-leader
creates more revenue in the long run. Oracle's lawyers will
have a difficult time selling the argument that a capable
MySQL, and a constantly-improved one at that, will maximize
the revenue from the rest of their products.
