Personally, I have a problem with Monty selling MySQL ... because
other people who contributed to the source code didn't get distributions
from the big buyout. Kind of a "bait and switch" if you ask me.

Oracle has been bleeding in the last years I know Oracle is trying to figure out how to make money off of the many many MySql users.

The reason we don't trust Oracle is because it's in Oracle's
best interest to cap MySQL development, and the company's
officers have a legal, fiduciary responsibility to do so
[because they are a publicly held company -- if Oracle was
a privately held company -- that is, the stock is not available
for sale on the stock exchange -- there would be no legal
obligation to keep free-for use MySQL from making inroads
against pay-for-use products].

And as most people on here know, I come from a very libertarian
outlook.

My guess is the same sort of political favors that were rampant
in the 1880's-1890's ("robber baron capitalism" is actually socialization
of costs, but not profits for politically well-connected businessmen.
