That may be but MySQL caused Oracle to do a lot of things recently that they did not do 10 or 12 years ago.
I might be a sell out too because if I'm offered 1 B$ thats $1,000 Million thats 1,000,000,000 Dallors for your pet project I think you will get a lot of takers. That could fund a really cool new pet project.
Now for the rest of us, YES I am concerned because I dont trust Oracle. Now if they charged 59.99 for a boxed copy that I can load on any computer Windows/Linux/Unix I want as many times I want. Oracle has been bleeding in the last years I know Oracle is trying to figure out how to make money off of the many many MySql users.
My question is that How come this sale get approved so fast in the U.S.?

He's crying wolf.
It's open source, which means there's nothing to prevent
it from being forked ("YourSQL" ???)
I think this has more to do with trying to generate
publicity for, and stifle competition to his new
start up, "Monty Program AB"
The guy is a hypocrite. He wants to have his cake and
eat it to -- he sold MySQL, but wants to retain control
of it. (As if there's any way that ANYONE, including
Oracle, can actually exert 100% control over any open
source product)
