Hi Eric, do you know of any mid level Linux Admins that are in the
Detroit area that would be interested in a contract to hire at a W-2 pay
rate of $40/hr?  It is with our direct client and they for sure want to
hire after the 6 month contract period.  We had the position filled but
our candidate decided to take another offer out of state.

LINUX SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Systems, the Linux Systems
Administrator will be the primary owner of the architecture and
administration of the company's ecommerce websites. The administrator
will support and maintain UNIX and Linux server systems in a high-volume
web environment, learn adjunct applications running on these systems,
and optimize the standard administration functions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

           o Administer online systems to provide, maintain, and manage
             the smooth and efficient operation of Entertainment's
             ecommerce solutions.

           o Determine present and future system capability needs and
             ensure systems are capable of handling anticipated current
             and future volume.

           o Configure, install, maintain, and tune OS on UNIX and Linux
             servers. Ensure all defined standards for documentation,
             naming standards, and change controls are followed.

           o Propose and review automation scripts and processes to
             streamline administrative tasks.

           o Manage processes related to data integrity to ensure
             accuracy and high availability including back-up, off-site
             storage, and business continuity planning.

           o Manage security measures to minimize the risk of internet
             security breaches.

           o Manage problems dispatched by systems support analysts as
             the second level of support.

           o Participate in 24/7 on-call duties as needed.

           o Ensure all company policies and guidelines as set forth in
             the Corporate Human Resources Policy manual are followed.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

           o Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

           o Excellent, proven organizational, time-management, and
             multitasking skills.
           o 2 years of Linux Administration experience is required.
           o Solid understanding of UNIX user commands.
           o Experience with Kernel/performance tuning.
           o Solid understanding of server architecture and hardware.
           o Strong Internet experience, especially web servers
             (Netscape, Apache), load balancing devices (NetScaler,
             BigIP, Alteon,  switches, and Internet protocols.
           o Solid NFS/NIS and DNS/BIND experience.
           o Experience with administering JBoss applications, including
             JBoss clustering.
           o Experience with RAID devices.
           o Experience with UNIX and network security, including
             firewalls (commercial and open source).
           o Demonstrated project management and problem
             analysis/resolution skills.
           o Solid organizational skills with a methodical approach to
             systems and problem solving.
           o Scripting skills are preferred. Experience with Perl is ideal.
           o Experience supporting Java preferred.
           o Large-scale, high volume web experience is preferred.
           o Occasional travel to hosting sites or training sites will be
             required.
           o BA/BS with an emphasis in Computer Science or Information
             System courseware preferred or equivalent work experience.
