[mdlug] ssh or telnet in kubuntu or apt-get thru proxy?

to get apt- to work through a proxy just do the following from a command
prompt
export http_proxy="http://ip or name of proxy:port/"
apt should now work.
you can add this to your .bashrc file to have it load this at login.
