[mdlug] saving a dying samba server

Hello, I have this samba server which needs to be rebooted every day.   Just restarting the smb service doesn't do it.   But rebooting does fix it.
What does rebooting do that would fix it?    Is there a cron job I can run that might flush the smb cache, or something?    I already have a cron job that restarts the smb service in the middle of the night.   Not helping.

Of course, everyone else in my office is against samba.   So I supposed it's a lost cause.
Just looking for thoughts, ideas.    Thanks.
