I had their "Commercial" "High speed" with 5 static addresses. They said
there was no filtering. It was $85/mon, They were not honest. Their
boarder routers would intermittently drop UDP packets if their source or
destination was Vonage, and often for a route to Vonage would add up to
3 seconds latency. Any other similar destination was fine. Also, their
service would intermittently just stop. We go to calling this fenomena
of half duplex phone calls "Comcasting".
Tech support would refuse to send a tech and consistently said the
answer was to use their digital voice, starting at $45/month (Vonage is
$15).... finally after months, while I was hard balling a tech via my
cell, the line dropped again just as she was tried to abandon the call -
she saw the modem drop so sent a tech...
The tech found nothing wrong, but said ALL their modems reboot if they
see too much traffic. I asked what was too much, and he had no idea. On
Vonage, he said everyone has that problem with Comcast.... I never had
the problem with DSL before Comcast .
That day we ordered DSL again - 5 static, dedicated AT&T line included
w/o dial tone - 6m down, 768 kb up - $89/mon. ( Switched DSLAM port, not
bridged)
Now, this proved Comcast is flat out lying in their advertising - it is
not possible to get this upload and their down load seldom was better
than 4 - 5m.
