Dear Jim,
From what I can see when I search "battery memory issues", you're wife
may have let the magic smoke escape the battery. Wikipedia says there
are many urban legends regarding reviving notebook batteries. These are
two of the sites that came up on the search
<http://www.batteryuniversity.com/parttwo-34.htm>,
<http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=91846> and they; as
well as almost all of the others; advise against leaving the battery in
while constantly connected. I feel your pain, I have one of those kind
of computers as well and I'm sure I'll be buying a new battery soon. I
usually "accidentally" unplug this notebook as a matter of course.
Matter of fact I think I'm going to do that right now.
Best Regards,
