[mdlug] Battery memory issue

Greetings,

My wife has had her laptop about a year now. Even though I had
suggested otherwise she more or less has kept the machine plugged in
all the time.

Now that we are away on vacation the machine stays on for about 6
minutes not plugged in. Aside from buying a new battery, is there
anything we can do to improve functionality?

If it matters, she runs windoze vista home edition, and I boot DSL off
of usb when she's not looking. (she doesn't like me "penginizing" her
computer).
