The lockups started when I put in a Promise SATA300 TX4 controller. (Also put
in a new 650W power supply at the same time as the old one would not spin up
the three new hard drives.) I did not see any expanded caps when I had the
box open. I think the issue with lockups is the SATA card. I plan to remove
it in the near future and see if the system gets "better".
Promise only certifies there driver for SuSE 9.1 and I am running 10.1. This
may be the issue. I have not been able to compile the driver from source, but
have not had the time to try real hard.
